| hello my few but loyal readers,
so i'm thinking about quitting xanga cause i just don't think i can keep up with updating and what not. i was never good with journals or diaries of any sort. eh.
so about my trip down south:
basically, 6+-hour drives are not fun, unless you have a bunch of debate nerd friends to keep you occupied coughTFAstatecough. i listened to hindi music that i've probably heard a thousand times already for the first two, read, ate, read for another 2, and then somehow managed to uncomfortably fall asleep. i hate sleeping in cars. unless you have the whole backseat to yourself -- which really only works if you're 4 feet tall.
to sum up the trip:
I went to Mexico for a few hours. Actually just this city called Matamoros within a mile of the border, which hardly counts - Mexico Lite. We went shopping of course, but in an air-conditioned department store that was a five-minute walk from the border. Mexico lite lite. i bought lotsa cheap junk don't you just love traveling?
the beaches there are so pretty, you'd never have known water was clear!
AND THEN WE WENT PARASAILING OVER THE OCEAN! no, I didn't fall, drown, or get eaten by a shark. (yeah, my sister was scared of sharks even though it was relatively shallow, cause they dipped us in the water a few times) you guys HAVE to try that sometime.
then after that it was back to the daily monotony of summer. except of course for FIFA!!!! ITALIA WON!!!!!!! france got what they deserved, although I did feel sorry when one of their players cried. only a bit. I'm just mad they beat Brazil, i wanted them to win again. oh well the hot italian boys pulled through especially Toni. it went into overtime and then to the penalty kick shootout. france might have had a chance had ZIDANE not been REDCARDED before. yeah, it's actually kinda sad that he had to end his soccer career like that, cause he's retiring and all. oh well i was screaming for italia nevertheless it was great. that's a lot coming from a non-sportsy person like me.
backtracking i went to Jenny part 1.5, even if it was only for 2 hours. it was great to see all the brownies again. we played down by the river and tweedle leedle ee? no idea how to spell that... hehehe only cause the guys were playing super smash brothers or whatever. silly boys. then we had pizza and noodles and we were all indian cause we sat on the ground. except for karthik of course, who sat on the ground, but is in fact not indian. then we started karaoke-ing 'A whole new world' that was funnnn but I had to leave after that
mmmmmmm that was a pretty boring entry but oooh well. i'm just planning the trip to europe now. i still haven't started my summer homework. and i miss school.
it seems like it's been forever since i saw a movie. who wants to do something with me?
and you guys should read The Rule of Four. that's a great book.
| so apparently myspace is the new xanga. is that why all you guys are being so xanga-comment-phobic? or is it just me? lol
mmmm testmasters is over. i'm at 2280 right now, but i havent done 2 of my homework SATs yet and i still have 5 others. so i'm confident that i can get it up to say a 2350 hopefully. of course, a 2400 wouldn't be too bad either, for that matter.
so right now i'm totally craving the devil wears prada. don't tell me you guys don't wanna see it. and of course, the lovely Jack Sparrow in pirates of the caribbean: dead man's chest. X-MEN 3 was pretty good too actually, it is indeed a good-movie summer.
so for the fourth of july i'm going to south padre island <-- the absolute best beach in texas, you know it. that should be fun... AND OF COURSE EURO TRIP : FRANCE (again) GREECE ITALY AND SOME FORGOTTEN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES IN BETWEEN! july 27 - august 11. which actually kind of sucks because then i only have a weekend left before school. ooooh crap gotta do that summer homework stuff. no essay for english, though, right guys?
so this summer i think has been pretty good so far, i saw some of my old rogers friends that didn't go to bellaire and i've seen the brown brigade/Fanfanclub call it what you will a few times but it's definitely been too long since... POC2 PARTY PEOPLE!
i haven't been reading like i intended to, the agatha christie book i picked up is slightly slow and i'm on and off with The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, i think. if you guys are into historical mystery type things you should read it. beware though, it's quite long. we also got cable and lately i've been hooked on NARUTO. and that theme song is definitely the coolest.
hm and my urge to go swimming three times a week has kinda died down, which is definitely not good. who knows, maybe the extra time off from lack of testmasters will get me up off my feet (HA, yeah right ) hehehe
so how is your summer? | | |
| mmmm nothing to do...
HAPPY SWEET SIXTEEN JAIMIE! hehe see you this friday .
so testmasters is actually pretty useful... i'd figure it'd just be a way to kill time and you know, waste $700 or however much it was.. but most of the strategies really work. but yesterday we had geometry and i don't think anybody in that room learned anything. what i need is advanced math, because there always seems to be at least one problem on an SAT that i don't know simply because i haven't learned it yet. yeah... eek speaking of which i should probably get started on that SAT which is due in um what? 2 days? bleh summer just isnt the time for work
heehee jenny's party this past friday was pretty fun, we tried getting the waitresses to come over and sing her a song, which they did, along with giving her this dessert platter type thing. and i recall that shubha and i must have specified at least 3 times that they sing in chinese, but noo, when the song starts, the only person singing in chinese is Chris. and then he just stops cause well he feels weird... talk about communication gap. eh maybe they just didnt like us rowdy teenagers.
then this saturday my family and i went to galveston... the weather was pretty nice with the salty breezy type feeling, the water was as dirty (or silt filled, jenny?) as usual though. haha ohhh and jenny and i had an ingenious idea. seeing as how astroworld is dead, and a new schlitterbahn just sprang up in galveston, all us brownies (+you other people ) and anyone else who's interested i guess should go! we were thinking july 22, it's a saturday. if some of your parents are really nice hehe, tell me or jenny. or maybe karishma's sister is feeling generous?
it feels like it's already been a month and it's been slightly over a week. i checked out some books to kill time. oh agatha christie, how i love you.
on friday i volunteered in the nursery at SWMH. oh my god those tiny babies were so adorableeee. i reallyyy feel like having one. RIGHT NOW.
i don't know what else to say? oh i learned how to make fried rice and some chinese-style chicken stuff. by learn i mean cutting up vegetables while my mom says some stuff that i won't remember in five seconds. but hey it's a step up from nothing.
heeeheee i'm gonna go swimming today, after maybe a year?
normalcrazy + weirdsane = love

wow its been a while since i updated, has it not?
i've gotten sucked into the world of myspace, simply because the summer indolence got to me. kinda ironic, considering it's actually gonna be a relatively busy summer. but nobody ever reads myspace blogs! so i decided to come back to my ever-faithful xanga readers
SO here are my goals for the summer (copied from my myspace blog):
1. make testmasters worthwhile
2. freak out about my classes next year (prepare? PAH!)
3. do my summer english reading. which might not happen anytime soon, cause i've already managed to lose the list. go me
4. do my US history summer project. ugh im really gonna hate that class but THIS i did manage to not lose. it's secure in my room (however secure that can really be)
5. go swimming A LOT to spend quality time with my sister and my grandpa
6. volunteer at texas children's and SW memorial hermann (yeah sorry mr. prakash no battered women's shelters for me )
7. go to italy and greece! hopefully...my grandparents need to get their visas first
8. meet my long lost friends from rogers and have a BIO BUDDY REUNION! woohoo
9. learn how to be somewhat less culinarily inept and a good brown wife maybe my grandma can teach me how to bake or something
so what are you doing this summer? come on guys, this isnt the summer to waste! (wow im so good at this i should be a motivational speaker)
i just realized that another good thing about xanga is that everyone, not just myspace users, can see my blogs.
hmmm i wonder if the myspace smileys will show up

should i study for the world history SAT II? blech, speaking of which, i did amazingly bad on my first SAT for testmasters. like DISGUSTINGLY bad.
| hola
time for pictures! i went to galveston - the land of beaches oh so squalid! so the only pics worth showing are of bishop's palace:

this place is gorgeous.. better view:

yeah we also took this 'duck tours' bus around galveston and after driving around the city it went into the water.. pretty cool the tour guide was funny too. it was ridiculously windy that day though.
my cat is so odd. if she's sitting in my room and i walk in she runs to my sink because she wants to drink running water. i dont know how she developed that habit but.. a few days ago i found her sitting in my sink. i thought it was pretty adorable:

and then of course saturday we played holi. it made me a very happy turnip
i'm reading this book called the historian kinda like da vinci code but about 30 times slower. i still cant seem to put it down though.
ohh yes and some music for you guys (turn up your volume if you havent already noticed). im currently in love with this song and temperature by sean paul.
happy holi everyone!
